OREANDA-NEWS. June 17, 2010. XIV Petersburg International Economic Forum starts in St. Petersburg today, June 17. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will open the SPIEF. The Forum brings together leading politicians and businessmen, who meet to identify and discuss key challenges that Russia, emerging markets and the global community are facing and bring the necessary forces to find common goals and find solutions. LenExpo fairground will become the main venue of the forum.

According to the press service of the Governor of St. Petersburg, a series of important documents are expected to be signed today, including those with Admiralty Shipyards and United Shipbuilding Corporation. These agreements will allow relocating the shipyard facilities from the Novo-Admiralty Island in Kronstadt to a single construction site.

On the second day of SPIEF French President Nicolas Sarkozy is expected to speak at the St. Petersburg Forum. The Forum prevailing theme is the modernization of Russia’s and global economy after the crisis.
