OREANDA-NEWS. August 30, 2010.   Profitability will become the major criterion of economic performance during the next five-year period, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said during his working trip to Gomel Oblast on 30 August.

“We will look at growth figures, but profitability will be the major criterion, get used to that,” the head of state said.

Alexander Lukashenko said that the drastic reforms in agriculture are almost over. “They should be completed in the next five-year period. We will see now whether our course was right, we will complete the development of agrotowns and make targeted injections into certain areas of the program,” the President said.

The head of state added “that the funds should no way be scattered.” The President pointed to the need of toughest discipline and observance of technical regulations.

“I would like to reiterate that the most important things are comprehensive growth and profitability,” Alexander Lukashenko concluded.
