OREANDA-NEWS. November 10, 2011. Fujitsu today announces the appointment of Simon Carter to the position of marketing director in its UK & Ireland region.

Carter has been marketing director for Fujitsu’s largest business in the UK&I – its public sector division – for the past two and a half years, and today steps up to the senior role.

Paul Patterson, sales & marketing director commented: “Fujitsu is going through an exciting period. Our business in the private sector has grown positively year-on-year and we have continued to provide services and solutions to the public sector in a very demanding climate. To continue to be successful, we need to differentiate ourselves in a largely homogeneous market and drive new business through strong customer insight and propositions – for example leveraging the USD 1.5bn investment in Cloud infrastructure and services which Fujitsu has made to address the evolving UK&I market. To lead our marketing organisation, I believe that Simon is the right person to take this forward.”

Carter joined Fujitsu in June 2009 from the leading travel brand, Thomas Cook, where he was executive director of marketing. This built on a successful marketing career spanning the Post Office, EdF Energy, Virgin Home, London Electricity and NatWest. He was elected to the Worshipful Company of Marketors this year, and is also a non-executive director of social enterprise, The Small Business Consultancy.

Commenting on his promotion, Carter said: “Fujitsu is a market leader in the IT sector – it has a fantastic Japanese heritage, a long-standing commitment to the UK market, and aspirations to grow further. We also have a number of high calibre individuals, and it is a great honour to be asked to lead the team at this time. I have been fortunate to work with some of this country’s best known brands in my career to date, and I believe that my experience in the B2C market – coupled with what I have learnt over the past two and a half years in B2B – will enable me to capitalise on the best of both to position Fujitsu as one of the IT sector’s great brands in the country”.
