VEB’s Chairman Calls Not to Discourage the Work of Development Institutions in Russia

KRASNOYARSK, February 17 – RIA Novosti. The talk whether the Russian economy needs development institutions hinders their activity in Russia, believes Vnesheconombank Chairman Vladimir Dmitriev.

“The main challenge for us is to work without being hindered”, said Dmitriev at a panel discussion in the course of the 9th Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum.

“We don’t need any help, what we really need is to work without being hindered. We know what we should do, we have an extremely competent Supervisory Board, we focus on the ministries whose heads are represented in our Supervisory Board to say nothing of its Chairman (Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin) and vice premiers – we are quite capable of working efficiently addressing appropriate tasks’, said VEB’s Chairman.

He called on experts and business representatives not to regard development institutions as “being rudimentary, as artificially created institutions inside the country”. “There is no need for endless discussions about development institutions. Our activity shows that we are needed in certain sectors”, he added.

Mr. Dmitriev also urged not to impose functions and tasks on development institutions if they are not among their priorities.

“We base our work on the principles of social responsibility and we have enough strength to work efficiently in our main sectors,” he concluded.
