OREANDA-NEWS. March 07, 2012. INTERPIPE, along with the State Rail Transport Administration of Ukraine and the Scientific and Practical Society of Railroaders of Ukraine, will conduct the 2nd international scientific and practical conference, “Development of up-to-date production technologies for national enterprises – a basis to reduce the wear of the “rail-wheel” pair”.

The list of major topics for the conference includes problems and ways to resolve the issue of excessive rail-wheel wear, researches on the reasons for defect formation, and methods to enhance wear resistance.

“The problem of wear of the “rail-wheel” pair is the top priority problem not only for the railways of Ukraine, but also for the CIS countries. While considering the ways to resolve it, we do our best to apply the principle of partnership between the governmental and private sectors of the railway industry. That is why we conduct the 2nd scientific and practical conference together with INTERPIPE – one of the railway industry leaders, - Nicolay Sergiyenko, Ukrzaliznytsya First Deputy General Manager, comments.

The conference will be held on April 26-27, 2012 at INTERPIPE NTRP facilities (Dnipropetrovsk city, Ukraine) – one of the world’s largest producers of railway wheels under the KLW brand. During the conference,  participants will get to know with the high-tech technologies of railway wheel production at the wheel-rolling shop facilities of INTERPIPE NTRP. Within the framework of the conference, a guided tour to the new state-of-the-art mini mill Dniprosteel will take place.

“For many years INTERPIPE NTRP engineers have been working to resolve the issue of enhancement in the efficiency of railway wheel’s use under the conditions of continuously growing speeds and loads. While searching for the optimal wheel design, INTERPIPE NTRP production engineers at the same time continue the development of new solutions to change mechanical properties of railway wheels. Having mastered the production of wheels out of the continuously cast steel, we will be able to extend our product range considerably thanks to the use of new steel grades”. - Mikhail Is’kov, director for railway wheels sales at Interpipe has commented.
