OREANDA-NEWS. March 29, 2012. With a view to encourage creation of facilities for setting up of cold storage and temperature controlled cargo centres, six potential locations namely Singur (Eastern Railway), Nasik (Central Railway), New Jalpaiguri (Northeast Frontier Railway), Naya Azadpur (Northern Railway), Mechheda (South Eastern Railway) and Dankuni (Eastern Railway) have been identified under Kisan Vision Project as a pilot project, to be developed by logistics based Public Sector Undertaking (PSUs) like Container Corporation of India Ltd. (CONCOR) and Central Warehousing Corporation Ltd. (CWC). Policy guidelines for implementation of pilot project were issued on January 14, 2010. The work for construction of Perishable Cargo Centre at Singur, Nasik (Ojhar) and New Jalpaiguri has been completed. Perishable Cargo Centres at these locations are in operation.
