OREANDA-NEWS. June 09, 2012. The Customs Union member states have confirmed their readiness to introduce the advance electronic cargo information for the goods imported to the region as from 17 June. The statement was made at a meeting of the joint board of the customs services of the Customs Union member states which is taking place in Taganrog, Russia, on 7-8 June.

 The Belarusian delegation is led by Chairman of the State Customs Committee Alexander Shpilevsky.

The novelty will facilitate customs clearance procedures and reduce the time spent at the border, reports Kazinform.

The joint board of the customs services of the Customs Union member states was set up as part of the agreement signed on 22 June 2011 to coordinate cooperation between the customs services, unify the customs legislation and customs regulation. The joint board meets once in three months. The previous meetings were held in Moscow, Astana, and Vitebsk.
