OREANDA-NEWS. August 9, 2012. Following the latest increase by 7%, Belarus’ sugar prices have grown to catch up with average sugar prices in Russia, which currently stands at USD 701 per tonne (VAT not included), reads a message of Russia’s Union of Sugar Producers (Soyuzrossakhar).

In Kazakhstan, for instance, inland sugar prices stand at USD 806 per tonne (VAT not included), down 2% since early June 2012. Analysts attribute the decline in sugar prices in Kazakhstan to the influx of sugar supplies from Ukraine.

Russia’s inland sugar prices have reached their maximum and currently stand at RUB26.3 per kilo. Sugar prices in Russia may continue their ascent within the next two weeks, however by the end of the summer they will inevitably decline, analysts said.
