OREANDA-NEWS. October 10, 2012. Moscow Domodedovo Airport has decided on the finalists of the monthly contest held among the most punctual Russian and foreign airlines operating passenger flights from the airport. In August, the most punctual air carriers were: Transaero, Rossiya, Polet, Tulpar Air, Aegean Airlines, British Airways, bmi and Air Arabia.

- British Airways aspires to meet all first-rate quality standards, particularly to operate flights between Moscow and London on schedule, Galina Karzova, Head of the British Airways Representative Office in Russia and Ukraine, gave her comments with regard to the victory. - We are always taking care of our passengers and do everything so that they could plan their time and enjoy their flights. The victory in this category of the monthly Domodedovo Airport contest proves that we deal with this problem successfully.

Depending on the flights frequency and the passenger traffic, the participants of the contest held by Domodedovo Airport are divided into 8 categories. Following the results of August, the first category is still topped by Transaero Airlines which operated 1,968 flights exactly according to schedule; Russiya Airlines made 201 flights without delays and headed the second category; Polet topped the list of airlines of the third category with 356 on-time flights; Tulpar Air have become the leaders in the fourth category with 18 flights without delays. Among foreign airlines the following airlines are leaders in terms of punctuality: Aegean Airlines – in the fifth category (119 flights), British Airways – in the sixth category (89 flights), the seventh and the eighth categories were topped by bmi (62 flights) and Air Arabia (13 flights).

Moscow Domodedovo Airport organized the contest among the most punctual airlines more than 5 years ago; it was aimed to improve the passenger service quality. The first award ceremony, following the results of spring and summer navigation seasons, will be held by the airport on October 31 within the annual interline-conference DME Connections which encourages development of partner relations among airlines operating flights from Domodedovo. Further, the most punctual airlines will be awarded twice a year following the results of autumn-winter and spring-summer navigation seasons.

Moscow Domodedovo Airport is the largest airport of Russia in terms of passenger traffic. In 2011, total passenger traffic of the airport amounted to 25,701,610 people which let Domodedovo to become the first Russian airport to join the category of the largest airports in Europe on the classification of the Airports Council International (ACI). Moscow Domodedovo Airport is the base airport in Russia for member airlines of two largest global airline alliances – oneworld and Star Alliance. Since 2009, Moscow Domodedovo Airport has been on top of the list of the best airports in Eastern Europe in terms of the service quality, according to the annual survey by the independent research company Skytrax Research (UK).
