OREANDA-NEWS. December 17, 2012. 239.5 thousand tonnes of grain are produced in Ukraine during 10 months of 2012, which is up by almost 2% than during the same period of last year. Such production does not only fully satisfy the domestic market, but also enable us to increase exports. So, this year Ukraine exported nearly 30000 tonnes of cereals in the amount of USD 12.2 million. This was announced by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Prysyazhnyuk.

"Cereal is the traditional Ukrainian foods rich in fiber, minerals and vitamins; although in recent years there has been a decrease in the share of cereals in the diet of our citizens. However, the production of cereals does not only can satisfy the domestic demand, but also to increase their exports. Thus, in January-October 2012, domestic enterprises produced 239.5 thousand tons of cereals, which is up almost 2% than during the same period of last year", Mykola Prysyazhnyuk said.

The Minister informed that among the most widely used Ukrainian cereal buckwheat was produced most of all - 50.5 thousand tons; rice - 29.4 thousand tons, and wheat groats - 11.7 thousand tons. Mykola Prysyazhnyuk also noted active dynamics of exports of cereals this year.

"Ukraine exported nearly 30000 tones of cereals for a total of USD 12.2 million for 10 months of 2012. It should be noted that this year Ukrainian cereal were bought most of all by Russian Federation - 15 thousand tons, Belarus - 3.9 thousand tons, Moldova - 3.2 thousand tons and Azerbaijan - 1.3 thousand tons", - Mykola Prysyazhnyuk added.
