OREANDA-NEWS. Passenger car wholesales rose 10.2% year on year to 2,883.4 thousand units in January-December 2012. Sales of domestic models fell by 19.4 thousand units to 613.8 thousand units, and their market share reduced to 21.3% from 24.2%. Sales of locally assembled foreign models grew from 1,048.8 thousand units to 1,274.2 thousand units, and their market share expanded by 4.1 points to 44.2%. It was just this segment who called for total growth of the market. The cumulative share of locally produced cars (both domestic and foreign models) expanded by 1.2 point to 65.5% vs. 64.3% in 2011. Sales of imported new foreign cars were up 6.2% to 983.0 thousand units, while their market share reduced by 1.3 points to 34.1%. Import of used cars by corporate bodies, already of minor importance for the market, was up 65.3% on the year to12.4 thousand units, and their share was 0.4% vs. 0.3% one year earlier.
