OREANDA-NEWS. February 19, 2013. The POSCO TJ Park Foundation announced the 2013 POSCO TJ Park Prize winners: KAIST Life Science Chair Professor Kim Eunjun, Founding Principal Yoon Byeonghun of Yangeob High School, and Mindlele Noodle House CEO Seo Yeongnam, reported the press-centre of POSCO.

Professor Kim Eunjun, who won the TJ Park Science Prize, is a leading expert in brain sciences, investigated the principle of synapse formation of cerebral nerves which is one of academia`s greatest interests, and is leading research on the relation between synapse proteins and cerebral nerve diseases.

Founding Principal Yoon Byeonghun, who won the TJ Park Education Prize, first established Yangeob High School as an alternative school in 1997 for students who were having difficulty studying due to maladjustment to schools and were falling behind in their studies. During the 15 years since the founding, Principal Yoon has stayed away from the pressure-oriented injection type of education, and held forth differentiated values of ``Love and Care, Communication and Patience, Autonomy and Responsibility,`` and is considered the model of character education.

CEO Seo Yeongnam, who won the TJ Park Community Development and Philanthropy Prize, has been operating Mindlele Noodle House, which is a free soup kitchen offering free meals to the neglected including the homeless, disabled, and elderly living alone, in the 10 years since 2003. CEO Seo particularly has been running the soup kitchen through personal sponsorships with no support from the government. Mindlele Noodle House offers free meals to approximately 400~500 people each day with the help of 7~8 volunteers.

The award ceremony will be held on March 27th at the POSCO Center in Daechi-dong, Seoul, and each winner will receive 200 million KRW in prizes.
