OREANDA-NEWS. VMTP handled 40,933 TEU, which is 9% higher than the last year's same period. The key factor is an increase of import container turnover by 29.6% versus September 2012.

VMTP has been seeing a steady growth in containers since Q3 2013. Thus, the port handled 125,507 TEU in July-September 2013 compared to 118,850 TEU handled throughout the same period last year. Containers are the key freights for VMTP: their turnover was over 60% of the total VMTP traffic in 1H 2013.

Container turnover represents the most dynamically growing freight traffic in Russia's Far East, which is why VMTP tends to hold leading positions in this market. To do that, VMTP upgrades its container transshipment facilities, optimizes its Service Centre, renews cargo-handling fleet, and actively attracts new container volumes.
