OREANDA-NEWS. Metinvest Group held a Green City volunteer event on 19 October.

The campaign, the goal of which was to beautify cities where the Group operates, involved 7,500 employees of the Group's enterprises, who cleaned up public parks and planted trees.

Employees of Metinvest's enterprises, their family members, representatives of public organizations, and city officials all participated in the event . In total, 4,500 trees and bushes were planted in parks and public gardens in 16 cities in Donetsk, Luhansk and Dnipropetrovsk regions.

Volunteers in Donetsk planted linden and birch trees and barberry bushes in the 30 Year Anniversary of Victory Park. In Krasnodon, parks and residential districts 3,000 new plants were sowed; and the areas of schools and hospitals were cleaned too. In Zaporizhya, a new basketball court was installed and 6 tons of waste was removed from the city. Park areas and streets in Khartsyzsk, Kriviy Rih, Yenakiieve, and Makiivka were also landscaped. In Mariupol, the campaign will take place on 24 October: volunteers plan to plant about 3,000 trees and bushes in public gardens and parks.

Metinvest's first Green City volunteer campaign took place in April on Environmental Protection Day. Then, volunteers collected more than 920 tons of waste and planted about 600 trees in 12 cities. Volunteer initiatives across the Group's enterprises started at the end of 2012 with the company-wide “Good Deeds Campaign.”
