OREANDA-NEWS. Brest played host to Belarus-Croatia business forum featuring, among others, Croatia's former (2000 - 2010) president - Stipe Mesic.

The event was organized by Brest branch of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in association with Brest region executive committee. The main goal of the forum that brought together Croatian businessmen and top managers of local enterprises was to establish mutually beneficial business cooperation between Belarusian and Croatian economic agents in such areas as chemical industry, metalworking, housing construction, furniture making, tourism, transport and logistics. The Croatian side also expressed keen interest in setting up joint ventures and investing in the Belarusian economy.

Anatoli Zaretski, Vice Chairman of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE), gave a speech during the forum. He informed the representatives of the Croatian business community about the peculiarities of exchange and electronic auctions held at BUCE, accreditation procedure for foreign companies and key advantages of the exchange logistics system.

In addition, Mr. Zaretski had talks with Ivan Novak, head of Osiek Exchange, who agreed to visit BUCE's head office in January 2015 to discuss promising areas of cooperation.

Apart from that a business match-making session took place as part of the forum. Based on its results, several Croatian companies voiced their interest in applying for accreditation at BUCE trading platform.
