OREANDA-NEWS. Tata Power Delhi Distribution has set up two night shelters in North & North West Delhi with a view to provide relief to homeless in the biting cold in a record time of three days accommodating 50 people in each night shelters. These shelters are waterproof and contain specially crafted bed for the homeless and have been built in area spanning around 972 sq ft.

The night shelters have been handed over by Praveer Sinha, CEO & ED, TPDDL, to Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) in presence of Amar Nath, chief executive officer of DUSIB, which is the government's nodal agency for running Night Shelters.

Ongoing with this initiative, DUSIB handed these over to Amod Kanth, general secretary of Prayas, a non-government organization, who has been entrusted with maintaining and running these night shelters.

While one of the night shelter has come up at ISBT, adjacent to foot over bridge near Metro line and the other has come up at Mori Gate near MCD Park adjacent to the roundabout. Besides these, TPDDL will soon set up 3 more night shelters in North and Northwest Delhi.

Speaking on the initiative Mr Sinha said, "In consonance with the Tata Group's ethos, TPDDL is reaching out to the underprivileged section of the society through its various CSR initiatives targeting youth, women and children particularly those residing in JJ Clusters. We are confident that set up of 2 Night Shelters with three more coming up, would help the needy in prevailing cold conditions".
