OREANDA-NEWS. Russian scientists from Novosibirsk have patented a method of vodka production, which allows to reduce its toxic and post-intoxication effect by 18-20%, popularly called a hangover.

The explanatory documents to the patent say that when the drink is consumed, its euphoric effect is fully preserved, while the rate of formation of alcohol dependence decreases by 20-33%, RIA Novosti reports.

Researchers, together with scientists from Yakutsk and Novosibirsk institutes, were able to obtain hangover vodka thanks to reindeer lichen, which acts as a sorbent.

According to one of the authors of the method, the chairman of the board of directors of the Dominanta company Nikolay Baranov, to obtain a drink, a special lichen extract is introduced into a forty-degree water-ethanol mixture in a ratio of 1: 150 to 1: 200.

Nikolay Baranov noted that, of course, there is no hangover-free vodka and alcohol intake is always a poisoning of the body, but people still drink it and, therefore, components that reduce toxicity continue to be developed and used.

Earlier it was reported that Russians are increasingly inclined to consume less strong alcohol following global trends. According to RIA Novosti, this was stated by the chairman of the National Union for the Protection of Consumer Rights Pavel Shapkin.
