OREANDA-NEWS. The President of JSC Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov and JSC SUEK CEO Vladimir Rashevsky signed a cooperation agreement.

The agreement between the two companies entails the development and implementation of joint measures to improve coal transportation and the freight efficiency of Russian Railways, including the development of a long-term plan to increase freight flows and capacity at port facilities (Murmansk, Vanino, Nakhodka), port railway infrastructure, loading stations, and SUEK rail infrastructure.

The agreement also provides for both companies to collaborate on increasing transportation efficiency with the development of innovative railcar technology and enhanced routing solutions at port facilities.

Following the signing ceremony, JSC SUEK CEO Vladimir Rashevsky commented, “SUEK is the country’s largest railway user, accounting for 7.7% of Russian Railways freight in 2015. The development and implementation of joint projects between Russian Railways and SUEK are crucial to further drive freight efficiency. We see Russian Railways as both a reliable and productive partner as we seek to increase railway capacity, promote the efficient use of rolling stock and expand heavy-haul traffic. This agreement represents the next logical stage in our cooperation, which aims to further reduce the transportation costs of Russian Railways while increasing the network’s capacity to the benefit of all railway users and the country’s transportation system as a whole.”
