OREANDA-NEWSGazprom and Naftogaz should, in accordance with the protocol concluded with the participation of Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak and Assistant to the President of Ukraine Andrei Yermak, conclude an amicable agreement on all legal disputes by December 29 due to a 10-year transit contract Russian gas to Europe, but this has not been done.

The signing of a settlement agreement was a condition for concluding a new transit agreement from January 1, 2020 in accordance with this protocol, which was approved on December 20 in Minsk.

So far, only one condition has been fulfilled from the “package” settlement agreement - on December 27, Gazprom announced that it had transferred $ 2.9 billion to Naftogaz by decision of the Stockholm arbitration, and the Ukrainian company confirmed this. The parties did not report on the fulfillment of other conditions of the agreement (withdrawal of claims, removal of arrests from Gazprom’s property and the requirements of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine to a Russian company for $ 7 billion, as well as the conclusion of a global lawsuit against Gazprom against Ukraine in Geneva).

Moscow and Kiev reported four days in a row from Thursday, December 26 to Sunday, December 29, in Vienna. So, on Saturday afternoon, the Gazprom press service announced that "Russian-Ukrainian gas talks in Vienna, which began on Thursday and lasted until late Friday night, are continuing today".
