OREANDA-NEWSRoyal United Services Institution, RUSI said that the UK ground forces will be “completely defeated” in the event of an armed conflict with Russia in Eastern Europe. This was reported by the BBC with reference to the RUSI report prepared for the upcoming meeting of NATO leaders in London.

A study showed that the British Armed Forces lacked critical firepower compared to the Russian military. The British army, as well as the armies of NATO allies, have a “critical shortage” of artillery, ammunition and vehicles, the study said. The report states that the "rejuvenation and modernization" of UK ground artillery is "an urgent and critical priority".

The aim of the study was to analyze military capabilities in the "unlikely" context of a "high-intensity conflict between NATO and Russia". Great Britain, along with other NATO members, after the Crimea joined Russia, deployed its armed forces in Eastern Europe to deter potential “Russian aggression”.
