OREANDA-NEWSMoscow and Oslo are studying the issue of establishing a direct communication channel between the ministries of defense of the Russian Federation and Norway. This was announced on Wednesday by the ambassador of the kingdom to Russia, Rune Resalann, at a meeting with the chairman of the committee of the Federation Council on international affairs, Konstantin Kosachev.

"As far as I know, the issue of establishing a direct communication channel between the defense ministries in Moscow and Oslo is currently being considered", he said.

The diplomat pointed out that a direct line of communication is already operating between the headquarters of the Norwegian Armed Forces and the command of the Northern Fleet. He also recalled that earlier regular consultations were resumed between the defense departments of the two countries. According to the ambassador, Oslo attaches great importance to informing Russian colleagues about military exercises taking place in the kingdom. "We invite observers to our teachings and attach great importance to avoiding various kinds of misunderstandings", he said.
