OREANDA-NEWS Secretary of State at the French Foreign Ministry Clément Bon said that an embargo on Russian oil imports should be imposed in the coming weeks. It is reported by TASS citing the parliamentary TV channel Public Senat. He noted that there is already an agreement to impose an embargo on coal from Russia.

Also Bohn did not rule out that a similar decision will be taken later on gas imports from Russia.

Earlier the newspaper New York Times, citing sources, wrote that the European Union plans to introduce a phased ban on imports of Russian oil. In this case, the question of phased ban will not be widely discussed in the EU at least until the end of April, when in France the second round of the presidential elections will be over.

Marine Le Pen, a rival of incumbent French leader Emmanuel Macron, said she did not agree with the imposition of an embargo on gas and oil supplies from Russia, as this measure would hurt the French.
