OREANDA-NEWS Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said at a meeting of the Security Council's interdepartmental commission for improving state migration policy that he believes it is necessary to use new measures to more closely monitor the flow of migrants into Russia, TASS reported.

According to Medvedev, currently the relevant agencies have difficulties with reliable and complete statistics on migrants in Russia.

The deputy chairman of the Security Council stressed the need for data on the activities of migrants, their biographical data and other information of a personal nature, because this information is "important for ensuring the national security of the country, especially in the current situation.

Earlier, Medvedev had urged to tighten control over the situation around the ethnic enclaves of migrants, which are becoming "hotbeds of crime" and are not subject to Russian laws. He also pointed to the need for preventive work, including with diaspora leaders.
