OREANDA-NEWS Oil production in the world fell to 98.1 million barrels per day in April 2022 due to the reduction of production by Russia. This is reported by the International Energy Agency, according to Lenta.ru.

The document indicated that acute shortages due to Russian supplies could be avoided by increasing OPEC+ volumes from the Middle East and the United States. Globally, excluding Russia, oil production must increase by at least 3 million barrels per day from May to December 2022.

At the beginning of May, the head of the British oil and gas company Bernard Lunizayev said that total oil production in Russia dropped by 1 mln bpd. According to him, when the new anti-Russian sanctions come into force, oil production in Russia may reduce by another half of these figures.

Later, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said that Russia expects to increase oil production in May compared with April figures.
