OREANDA-NEWS. April 23, 2008. A working meeting of Minister of Foreign Affairs, President of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO Sergey Lavrov with Commission Presidium members took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. Taking part in it were Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Yakovenko, Commission Vice Chairpersons – Member of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Alexander Dzasokhov and Academician Vladimir Fortov – Secretary General of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO Grigory Ordzhonikidze and also Commission members: Professor Sergey Kapitsa, Member of the Russian Writers’ Union Yevgeny Sidorov and Chairman of the Russian World Heritage Committee Igor Makovetsky.

In the meeting, matters related to upcoming UNESCO events in Russia and abroad, to UNESCO Director General’s visit to Moscow in June 2008, to the implementation of the decisions of the General Meeting of the Commission, to interaction with the Commission branches in subjects of the Federation, as also other organizational issues of the activity of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO were discussed.
