OREANDA-NEWS. A conversation took place in Moscow on September 7 between Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Azerbaijan Republic Elmar Mamedyarov.

The heads of the foreign affairs agencies discussed the state of and prospects for Russian-Azerbaijani relations in the political, economic and humanitarian fields in the context of the accords reached during the official visit of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to Baku on July 3-4, 2008.

The ministers also exchanged views on the regional and international situation after Georgia’s attack on South Ossetia in violation of the settlement agreements was brought to an end.

The conversation passed in an open and friendly atmosphere that is intrinsic to Russian-Azerbaijani relations.
