OREANDA-NEWS. On September 27, a meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov and Vice President of Sudan Mohammed Taha took place on the sidelines of the 63rd UN General Assembly session in New York.

During the conversation topical international and regional problems were discussed with special emphasis on the situation in Sudan and, first and foremost, the unblocking of the crisis in Darfur.

Certain aspects of Russian-Sudanese interaction also were touched upon. In this regard, Lavrov and Taha voiced the reciprocal disposition to build it further in different fields and above all in the economic and commercial sector.

The sides exchanged views on ensuring security in the Caucasus region.
