OREANDA-NEWS. December 1, 2008. Vladimir Putin sent a telegram congratulating Romanian Prime Minister Calin Popescu-Tariceanu on Union Day.
The telegram said, in part:

"Russia and Romania maintain constructive and mutually beneficial relations. We hope that our two countries will continue to expand cooperation in politics, the economy, trade, research, technology and culture for the benefit of both nations and in the interests of peace and stability in the Black Sea and Balkan region."
