Russia hopes for the conclusion of a new cooperation agreement with the European Union, but expects that negotiations will be “long and complicated”.

The dialogue has started, however we stand ahead of long and difficult consultations, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Igor Lyakin-Frolov said.

-We expect to compromise on a mutually acceptable document which could define the perspective areas of cooperation, the diplomat added.

Talks on a new partnership and cooperation agreement between Brussels and Moscow was called off by the EU side after the breakout of the Russian-Georgian war. The Union countries in mid-November decided by resume talks with the Russians.
