OREANDA-NEWS  On 17 February was announced, that Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko hopes that the President of Ukraine will sign a governmental antirecessionary law aimed at improving the work of agrarian complex under conditions of the global financial crisis. Yulia Tymoshenko disclosed this during the meeting with farmers on Tuesday.

“If the President vetoes it, we have enough votes to override this veto in the Parliament,” Yulia Tymoshenko claimed, reminding that the people’s deputies approved this bill on a 370 vote in the Verkhovna Rada.

The Prime Minister also hopes that the Parliament will pass other laws necessary for normal activity of the agricultural complex in the shortest possible time. In particular, Yulia Tymoshenko reminded that the Government had submitted for the Verkhovna Rada’s consideration a bill “On servicing cooperative” that regulates the activity of cooperatives, “We hope that the bill will be passed this week.”

The Prime Minister informed that the Government had also submitted to the Parliament a bill “On amending the law on farm economies” that provides for the improvement of public support mechanisms for farm economies.

Moreover, Yulia Tymoshenko has commissioned the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Association of Farmers and Private Landowners to draft and amend the law “On amending some laws of Ukraine on mitigating the global financial crisis impact on the employment sphere”.

According to her, this document includes unfair norms with respect to the villagers and so it should be improved, “I’d like you to submit a bill this week that adjusts the situation”.

The Prime Minister reminded that in connection with the crisis, the Verkhovna Rada had introduced a special norm that bans a villager to be registered in the labour exchange to obtain unemployment assistance, if he/she engaged in proper husbandry, “A lawmaker went too far as usual, because there are different proper husbandries according to the land size, use of machinery, technologies”.

According to Yulia Tymoshenko, it is necessary to set out the exact sizes of such husbandries in the new bill and according to them, to put restrictions on obtaining the public unemployment assistance.
