OREANDA-NEWS. In a telephone conversation between the heads of the Russian and PRC foreign affairs agencies on April 5, Sergey Lavrov and Yang Jiechi discussed in detail the situation connected with reports about the DPRK’s launch of an artificial Earth satellite.

Given the concern expressed by a number of countries over the actions of Pyongyang and the upcoming consideration of this issue in the UN Security Council, the ministers called on all concerned sides to show restraint. They stated the similarity of Russia and China’s approaches to the settlement of this matter, oriented towards preserving stability in Northeast Asia and continuing the six-party negotiation process on the Korean Peninsula nuclear problem.

The ministers agreed to continue close consultation and cooperation on this topic.
