OREANDA-NEWS. April 9, 2009. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Uzbekistan had a telephone conversation.

Exchanging the heartfelt wishes the leaders of two states discussed the major aspects of bilateral collaboration and current issues of regional cooperation.

Expressing satisfaction at the high level of the intergovernmental dialogue the sides focused on the need to further it on a basis of the national interests and new global realities. In this context the Presidents put emphasis on primary importance of concerted efforts to design the new approaches to water problems common to the entire region and the Aral Sea related problems.

During the conversation Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invited Islam Karimov to pay an official visit to Turkmenistan at any convenient time. The invitation was accepted with gratitude. The dates of the visit would be adjusted through the diplomatic channels. 

In conclusion the leaders of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan exchanged the wishes of good health and every success and peace and wellbeing to two friendly peoples.
