OREANDA-NEWS. April 24, 2009. Dmitry Medvedev had a working meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Government Chief of Staff Sergei Sobyanin and Minister of Communications and Information Igor Shchegolev.
 
Implementation of the electronic government project was the subject of discussion.

Mr Sobyanin briefed the President on development of the plan to establish an electronic government system in Russia. The plan encompasses several different areas: using modern information technology to provide state services to people, developing ministries’ and agencies’ information systems, and organising inter-ministerial electronic paperwork. There are also plans to establish a vertically integrated automated state planning and monitoring system.

A meeting of the Presidential Council for Development of Information Society on February 12, 2009, discussed the need to set up an electronic government system in Russia.

Mr Medvedev also made Internet development and improving access to state services the subject of his latest address on his video blog.
