OREANDA-NEWS. July 15, 2009. A peer review of Russia’s Individual Action Plan (IAP) in APEC in 2008 took place in Singapore on July 15 in the framework of the APEC Senior Officials’ meeting.

During the presentation and detailed discussion of the plan, with independent foreign experts in attendance in particular, consideration was given to the package of measures undertaken by Russia over the past period towards accomplishing the APEC’s major goals, including the promotion of trade and investment liberalization.

From all accounts, the thorough presentation of the plan, made by representatives of Russia’s Ministries of Economic Development and Foreign Affairs, fully met the APEC criteria and evidenced Russia’s substantial progress towards the Forum’s goals.

The successful IAP “defense” has corroborated Russia’s adherence to a policy of reform and increasing the openness of the economy and has demonstrated its orientation towards active participation in the work of the APEC, which receives peer praise, particularly in the light of Russia’s upcoming chairmanship of the Forum in 2012.
