OREANDA-NEWS. October 5, 2009. The 9th summit of the Turkish-speaking countries` Heads of State was held here in Duzdag Hotel.

In front of the hotel, Azerbaijan`s President Ilham Aliyev welcomed Presidents Abdullah Gul of Turkey, Nursultan Nazarbayev of Kazakhstan, Kurmanbek Bakiyev of Kyrgyzstan and vice-chairman of Turkmenistan`s Cabinet of Ministers Khydyr Saparliyev.

Opening the event, President Ilham Aliyev said “fundamental changes have taken place to strengthen bilateral and multilateral relations among Turkish-speaking countries since the first summit in 1992”.

According to him, the past summits saw fruitful exchange of views on regional and international issues and huge progress in terms of strengthening ties and speeding up economic and social development.

Addressing the summit, Abdullah Gul, Nursultan Nazarbayev, Kurmanbek Bakiyev and Khydyr Saparliyev echoed President Ilham Aliyev`s words.

The participants also exchanged views on regional and international issues and put forward proposals to strengthen relations even more.

President Ilham Aliyev made a final speech saying the next summit will be held in August next year in Bishkek.

The summit culminated in signing of an agreement on establishment of Cooperation Council of Turkish-speaking countries and Nakhchivan Declaration.
