OREANDA-NEWS. November 05, 2009. The Regional Training Programme for Preventive Diplomacy in Central Asia started in Ashgabat. The representatives of the foreign ministries of the Central Asian countries, UN agencies, OSCE experts and specialists on conflict prevention and a number of the foreign research centres take part in the training organized by the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy in Central Asia and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR).

In the framework of the training programme the forum participants discuss various aspects and methodology of preventive diplomacy and acquire the negotiating skills. They discuss and exchange views on such important aspects as prevention of conflicts and regional cooperation, peacemaking efforts in Central Asia. The programme organizers pay special attention to personal contacts and exchange views among participants on various aspects of preventive diplomacy.

This is the first programme in the large-scale action plan of the UN Regional Centre that provides for active collaboration among the Central Asian diplomats and specialists, international experts to study and apply the mechanism of preventive diplomacy in practice.

The certificates will be awarded to the participants upon completing the training programme on November 7.
