OREANDA-NEWS. February 09, 2010. A meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov and NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen took place on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.

Topical issues of Russia-NATO interaction were discussed. The two parties reaffirmed their interest in the further development of political dialogue and practical cooperation in the format of the Russia-NATO Council, predicated on the basic principles set forth in the Rome Declaration at its founding in 2002.

During the conversation an exchange of views also took place on topical problems of international and regional security, in particular, on the situation in Afghanistan.
