OREANDA-NEWS. February 25, 2010. During talks in the Kremlin, the presidents discussed various issues on the regional and international agendas, paying particular attention to the situation in the Middle East.

Mr Medvedev and Mr Sleiman also discussed their countries' trade and economic cooperation as well as strengthening the legal foundations of their bilateral relations.

Following Russian-Lebanese talks, a Joint Declaration on further developing friendly relations and cooperation between Russia and Lebanon was adopted. The document reflects the countries' support for a multipolar world order, willingness to comply with generally accepted principles and norms of international law, and respect for the UN's key role in international politics. It also expresses both countries' firm resolve to strengthen political dialogue as well as foster multifaceted trade, economic and cultural ties.

During a joint press conference that followed the talks, Dmitry Medvedev said that Russia hopes to develop relations with Lebanon in the spheres of military technical cooperation, energy, investment and tourism.

Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Presidential Aide Sergei Prikhodko, Defence Minister Anatoly Serdyukov and head of the Federal Service for Military Technical Cooperation Mikhail Dmitriyev took part in the meeting from the Russian side.
