OREANDA-NEWS. May 26, 2010. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko plans to pay an official visit to Azerbaijan in the near future, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to Belarus Ali Naghiyev said.

“In several days Alexander Lukashenko is set to pay an official visit to Azerbaijan,” the Ambassador said.

In his words, the visit will give an additional impetus to the further development of the bilateral relations. The diplomat is confident that Belarus and Azerbaijan have no problematic issues in politics, economy and humanitarian cooperation.

As for the forthcoming visit of the Belarusian head of state to Azerbaijan, Ali Naghiyev stated that the leaders of the two countries are to discuss a wide range of issues. The Ambassador also said the presidents may discuss energy cooperation. He stressed that Azerbaijan is open to such cooperation and is ready to partake in various projects: Nabukka, Odessa Brody and others. “Those states which are interested in it should make their choice,” the Ambassador noted.

Speaking about energy cooperation between Belarus and Azerbaijan, the diplomat stated that the specialists of the two countries had already discussed the issue. Partaking in the negotiations from the Azerbaijani side were representatives of the Industry and Economy Ministries, the Oil Corporation. “There are no problems here. We just need a contact point to make such cooperation economically sound for the two countries,” the Ambassador said.
