OREANDA-NEWS. May 26, 2010. President Lee Myung-bak informed President Medvedev about the latest developments involving South Korea’s Cheonan warship after the investigative commission officially presented its findings. Dmitry Medvedev thanked South Korea’s leader for the detailed information and conveyed his sincere condolences over the many human lives this tragedy has claimed.

The Russian President expressed his hope that the parties will be able to exercise restraint and avoid further escalation of tension in the Korean Peninsula despite the dramatic situation. Both presidents expressed their regret over the fact that the important trade and economic projects put on the list a few years ago between the two Koreas with the participation of Russia have not been implemented, while the overall situation in the region has deteriorated to the point of confrontation.

During the conversation, both sides confirmed their willingness to continue consultations on all regional issues.
 
The President of South Korea thanked President Medvedev for his unwavering commitment to cooperation in advancing peace and security in Northeast Asia.
