OREANDA-NEWS. October 01, 2010. A working meeting of the heads of border guard headquarters of CIS countries took place in the Turkmen capital. Meeting participants discussed the current state of cooperation and the prospects for further collaboration to enhance border security of CIS states.

The representatives of the Russian Federation, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan took part in the meeting.

At the meeting it was noted that Turkmenistan as an associate member of the Commonwealth committed to the status of permanent neutrality delegated by the United Nations took efforts to implement its peacekeeping and constructive potential for the benefit of all mankind. This was the aim of the new international initiatives of the Turkmen state to maintain peace, security and sustainable development in the region and throughout the world.

The reports on the practices in combating international terrorism, drug trafficking, illegal migration and other issues were presented at the meeting. Specialists exchanged views on the approaches to enhancing the activities to maintain stability on external borders of CIS states in contemporary conditions, jointly conducting investigations and strengthening border control measures, including control of poaching in offshore areas.

The meeting participants made a trip to one of the new frontier posts supplied with state-of-the-art equipment and specialized vehicles in Kaahka Etrap.
