OREANDA-NEWS. November 13, 2010. President of the Republic of Turkey Abduallh Gul arrived on an officials visit to Turkmenistan on November 11.

In the afternoon, the Turkish leader’s airliner landed at the international airport of Turkmenbashi town decorated with the national flags of the two friendly countries. According to the traditions of hospitality bread and salt were offered to the Turkish leader.
 
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov cordially welcomed his Turkish counterpart Abdullah Gul in the airport, where the official ceremony of meeting the President of Turkey took place.

Upon concluding the ceremony, the leaders of Turkmenistan and Turkey had the brief talks in the VIP-hall of the airport. The leaders reaffirmed that the two states stood ready to foster and enhance the relations of friendship and brotherhood and expressed belief that the summit talks were to give a new impetus to develop fruitful international cooperation in mutual interests.

Turkmen-Turkish partnership based on equality and mutual long-term benefit develops is built on a full scale. This is vividly illustrated by a wide spectrum of cooperation, which has resulted in implementing successfully a number of joint projects in various sectors. The reliable foundation for contemporary intergovernmental relations brought to a higher level today is laid by historical, cultural and spiritual affinities of the two brotherly nations as well the mutual willingness to build up a constructive dialogue.

In this regard mutual understanding and confidence between leaders of the two states are of particular importance, top level meetings and talks held on a regular basis allow and to regular meetings and talks at the top, that allows keep an eye on priority aspects of cooperation and find optimal solutions.

As for trade and economic partnership, the intergovernmental Turkmen-Turkish commission for economic cooperation, which aims its activity to foster fruitful bilateral contacts, plays a critical role. Joint forums, including the International Exhibition of export goods of the Republic of Turkey organized in the second half of this year in Ashgabat, are of substantial practical importance. This August the Turkmen-Turkish Business Council, which is to facilitate deepening and expanding effective cooperation and developing new promising fields of it, held the first meeting in the Turkmen capital. Also, it should be noted that the Turkish business circles show keen interest in Turkmenistan. Several Turkish companies, which are long-term partners of our country in various sectors, operate actively on the Turkmen market.

The particular fields of interstate cooperation include science, education and culture. Collaboration steadily expands in these critical spheres, and traditional contacts are filled with a new content that is dictated by modern realities as well as the objectives of preservation and thorough study of the rich historical and cultural heritage of the Turkmen and Turkish peoples. Thus, our countries have the multidimensional potential and optimal opportunities to enhance further mutually beneficial partnership.

Upon concluding the brief talks in the VIP hall of the International airport of Turkmenbashi, President of the Republic of Turkey Abdullah Gul drove to his residence at the Hazyna Hotel.

On that day the presentation of the Avaza national tourism zone was arranged for the Turkish leader at the Nebitchi Hotel located on the picturesque Caspian seashore. The presentation focused on the concept of this large-scale project initiated by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the past, present and future of the new seaside resort. In particular, the projects of new facilities in Avaza were presented. The facilities to be built included the Palace of Congresses, five-star hotels, health and recreation centres, trade, cultural and entertainment centres, comfortable cottages, motordromes, which would host international competitions. An integral element of the Avaza concept is the environmental aspect, and therefore particular importance is attached to planting programme and creation of new parklands.

During the presentation President of the Republic of Turkey was briefed on the system of tax benefits, which underlay greater investment attractiveness of the Avaza Project for foreign partners.

The presentation of the Avaza national tourist zone aroused great interest of the Turkish leader, who highly evaluated this large-scale project implemented under the leadership of the President of Turkmenistan and put emphasis on its unconditional success and exceptional prospects.

The agenda of the Turkmen-Turkish top level is expected to focus on a wide range of aspects of bilateral relations successfully developing in the bilateral and multilateral format, within the framework of the authoritative international organisations and institutions. On the first day of the visit at the invitation of the President of Turkmenistan the Turkish leader visited landmarks the national tourist zone Avaza, where health resort infrastructure with all amenities meeting international standards, including recreation and entertainment centres, was developed. This grandiose project initiated by the national leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov embodied the policy of openness, peace, good neighbourliness and constructive endeavours committed to by independent neutral Turkmenistan that had laid the groundwork for the rapid progress of the country and its advancement along the path of new Revival and fundamental reforms.

In the evening President of the Republic of Turkey Abdullah Gul visited the Akmaya Centre located on the banks of navigable Avaza River, where President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov greeted cordially him. In the Akmaya Centre a dinner was given in honor of the distinguished guest on behalf the Turkmen leader.

Then the leaders of Turkmenistan and Turkey walked in the park that spread on the Caspian seashore and beautified Avaza even more. The park complex included the sea fountain and fountain complex on the shore, entertainment facilities and an amphitheatre for festivities.

The two leaders watched the magnificent show of water, music and light. This performance created through using state-of-the-art equipment and laser and holographic technologies served as some kind of a symbol of unbreakable Turkmen-Turkish friendship. After the show finished, the leaders bade farewell to each other. The following day the Presidents of Turkmenistan and Turkey will hold the top level talks.
