OREANDA-NEWS. November 15, 2010. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov met with Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the United Mexican States Patricia Espinosa on the sidelines of the APEC forum in Yokohama on November 13.

During their friendly conversation it was noted with satisfaction that a high level of political dialogue has been achieved between the two countries and that active collaboration is ongoing within a number of international organizations. Lavrov and Espinosa highlighted the reciprocal disposition to further develop Russian-Mexican ties in the trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian fields and to intensify the bilateral mechanisms of cooperation.

There was accentuated on the Russian side the importance of Mexico expeditiously recognizing the market status of the Russian economy.

The ministers also discussed a number of topical issues relating to the agenda of the forum in Yokohama and to the Russian Federation’s upcoming chairmanship of APEC in 2012.
