OREANDA-NEWS. November 16, 2010. Susan Elliot, Deputy Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs arrived on a working visit in Turkmenistan.

During the visit Ms. Susan Elliot was received at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The meeting focused on a wide range of issues regarding bilateral relations as well as various aspects of regional and international politics of mutual interest. In this context the significance of such new forms of bilateral collaboration as annual Turkmenistan-US political consultations and the activity of the Turkmenistan-US Business Council was spotlighted.

It was emphasized that the meetings held by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with US officials at different levels were of great importance for intensifying bilateral cooperation. It was stated that promotion of equal and mutually advantageous Turkmen0US partnership was a strategic vectors of Turkmenistan’s foreign-policy strategy.

Ms. Susan Elliot was received at the Cabinet of Ministers, the State Agency for Hydrocarbon Resources Management and Use under the President of Turkmenistan. During the meetings emphasis was put on the positive dynamics of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United States in a variety of fields, the willingness to promote further trade and economic contacts, cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian and other spheres.

During the visit of the government official from the friendly country Ms. Susan Elliot is expected to attend the ceremony of opening the international exhibition and conference focusing on the prospects for development of Turkmenistan’s oil and gas industry and international cooperation in this field, which would take place in Ashgabat.
