OREANDA-NEWS. November 29, 2010. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov on November 25 held a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Zalmai Rassoul.

During the talks the parties devoted special attention to practical aspects of the preparation of bilateral contacts at the highest level in 2011.

A thorough exchange of views took place on the military-political developments in Afghanistan and on the progress of the Kabul Process of transition to full Afghan responsibility and leadership in the country, more specifically the implementation of the program of national reconciliation and reintegration, as well as on the entire spectrum of Russian-Afghan collaboration.

There was noted the growing role of regional cooperation on Afghanistan, including within the framework of the SCO and CSTO.

Mutual interest was expressed in further boosting collaboration in the struggle against narco-crime and terrorism and in the trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian and other fields.

Lavrov and Rassoul signed a Protocol for Consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan for 2011-2015.
