OREANDA-NEWS. December 20, 2010. Dmitry Medvedev held talks at the Kremlin with President of Lavtia Valdis Zatlers.

A number of documents were signed following the talks, including agreements on fighting organised crime, simplified border crossing procedures for residents of border areas, cooperation in emergency situations, environmental protection, the tourism sector, and also a double taxation convention. The two countries also exchanged instruments of ratification of an agreement on providing social security.

The two presidents agreed to establish a joint commission of historians under the aegis of the Russian and Latvian Academies of Sciences to analyse past historical events.
