OREANDA-NEWS. January 12, 2011. Turkmenistan-Hungary political consultations were held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The sides discussed the current state and prospects for bilateral relations as well as important regional and international issues of mutual interest.

The talks spotlighted the mutual willingness to continue the political dialogue, including in the form of regular consultations between the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Hungary. Particular emphasis was put on the aspects of collaboration within authoritative international organisations, in particular the UN and the European Union, which was chaired by Hungary in 2011.

The members of the Hungarian delegation was briefed on the key aspects of the foreign policy strategy of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the main criterion of which was the open door policy based on the status of neutrality, peacefulness, good neighbourliness and mutually advantageous international cooperation.

The sides exchanged views on the prospects for partnership in the oil and gas, chemical, textile, transport, communication, innovative technology and agricultural sectors. An exchange of views on strengthening humanitarian cooperation, particularly in the spheres of education, science, culture, health care and tourism took place during the talks.
