OREANDA-NEWS. July 06, 2011. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Moustafa Mohammad Najar, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who was on a working visit to Turkmenistan.

Expressing gratitude for the opportunity of a personal meeting, the guest conveyed the hearty greetings and message from Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, IRI President, who had expressed the wishes of wellbeing and prosperity to the Turkmen people. Mr. Moustafa Mohammad Najar emphasized that paramount significance was attached in Iran to promoting full cooperation, which had been filled with a new content and quality in recent years, with brotherly Turkmenistan.

Expressing the hearty greetings to his Iranian counterpart, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said that Turkmenistan also attached considerable significance to enhancing and expanding traditionally friendly, good neighbourly relations with Iran. In this context the Turkmen leader underscored with satisfaction the high dynamics of interstate partnerships that was evidenced by a constructive political dialogue, consistent dynamics of bilateral collaboration in the trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres, intensification of business contacts, creation of the mutually beneficial conditions to develop transboundary trade.

Touching upon the issues of regional and international politics during the meeting, the Turkmen leader and his guest reaffirmed that Turkmenistan and Iran were committed to cooperation to ensure global peace, security and stability, combat threats and challenges of the modern world. Focusing on the fruitfulness of the dialogue of the two countries in the law enforcement sector, the sides put emphasis on the importance of concerting efforts in this field. It was also noted that the effectiveness of the activities aimed at combating such forms of transnational crime as terrorism, extremism, illicit traffic in drugs and weapon, economic crimes could be increased through strengthening the regulatory framework of cooperation, improving the legal mechanism for collaboration, a fruitful exchange of experiences between law enforcement agencies of the two countries.

Upon concluding the meeting, the President of Turkmenistan and the head of the IRI Foreign Minister expressed belief that relations between the two neighbouring countries built on a long-term basis and bound with the firm ties of friendship and brotherhood would be developed further successfully for the benefit of the Turkmen and Iranian peoples, in the interests of wellbeing and progress of the entire region.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyed Moham Mousa Hashemi Golpaegani attended the meeting.
