OREANDA-NEWS. August 29, 2011. The United Russia party’s leaders presented Dmitry Medvedev with the names of their candidates for the post of governor of St Petersburg.

At the meeting in Sochi, President of the United Russia Supreme Council and State Duma Speaker Boris Gryzlov submitted to the president the names of the acting governor of St Petersburg, Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy in the Central Federal District Georgy Poltavchenko, Deputy Governor of St Petersburg and Chief of the St Petersburg Governor’s Staff Mikhail Oseyevsky, and Chairman of the St Petersburg Legislative Assembly Vadim Tyulpanov.

Earlier, Mr Medvedev accepted Valentina Matviyenko’s request to step down early from her term as St Petersburg governor.
