OREANDA-NEWS.  January 31, 2012. A meeting with a delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation led by Director of the Department of Consular Service, Andrey Karlov took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The meeting agenda focused on a wide range of consular and visa problems and the specific aspects regarding the implementation of Turkmen-Russian agreements and treaties.

As is known, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and RF President Dmitriy Medvedev pay significant attention to enhancing bilateral cooperation, particularly in such a critical sphere as humanitarian contacts.

In this context these consultations between the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and Russia held in an atmosphere of mutual respect laid a platform for developing the constructive dialogue aimed at considering and addressing practical issues regarding consular services, legal assistance and respect for the interests of citizens of the two states in the territories of Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation.

The sides were unanimous that regular meetings at the ministerial level would contribute to updating the regulatory framework in consular relations and effectively implementing bilateral agreements.
